Back in 1969, when I was 14 y.o. I had the opportunity to go to England. I had been studying English history for 5 yrs and was very excited. I stayed with a friend's relatives and they had been through WWII as adults. It was during my visit that we made our first landing on the moon. My hosts said to me with deep respect "You Americans, you can accomplish anything." I also heard many Brits thank us Americans for bailing them out in WW2. (There were still bombed out areas in London in 1969, from WW2. It took Brits a long time to recover from WW2.)
I was very proud of that and always will remember that. It's very true; no other country has ever been brought down and then was able to recover and come back from it. But we Americans are doing it! The American spirit is not dead and it's coming back and will continue to do so, with Trump at the helm. God bless America!!
Here is a video that I absolutely love, it's only 12 minutes long but encompasses the strong American spirit. It's the story of how our national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner" came to be written. It is based on the true story of what the women and children endured one night - it is not to be missed. I always cry when I watch it. IMO every American should watch it:

That’s so cool, I was also 14 the summer of the Apollo 11 moon landing. I spent the summer at my grandparents’ farm in South Dakota and the moon and stars were amazing.

This was visibly, remarkably, and pleasantly seen by so many Americans who heard and experienced the hugely positive comments of foreign tourists at the FIFA games here in the USA. They were, and are, astounded at how wrongly the MSM has continually presented this country’s make up to both its own citizenry and the outside world. (How much can one HATE the MSM?)
